You know when you think of this great idea that you are sure is incredibly original and is going to change the world? Like a dispenser for bar soap flakes for example (Yes someone has really already done that). Well, what if someone had stolen your idea for your entire life!? Oh yeah, and your NAME! I can tell you how you would feel because it has happened to me. Oh the sadness, for indeed Sarah Richardson has used up my life plan.
I swear I have evidence! I still have an email I sent my family years and years ago that lists out my life goals, including having a HGTV show where I remodel my own home room by room. Which happens to be exactly what she does! So I did what any mature gal would do… I boycotted her. Yup, I refused to watched her plethora of shows when they reached Minnesota, and scoffed rather too often. But then I broke down and watched an episode of Sarah’s Cottage this summer, and guess what? I loved it. I love her style, I love her gay best friend, her shopping trips, her fabrics, her risks and am insanely, insanely jealous of her real-estate. So perhaps I won’t get a show on HGTV titled “Sarah S’s House”, with my last initial tacked on like a school project, but I can still be inspired and know that my dreams aren’t so far-fetched.
Here a few examples of her work I like to study:
Did you know, that when she is designing a room she does not feel it is complete unless it has 10-12 different fabrics in it? I know that sounds like a lot, but it explains the warm layered look she achieves and gives me courage to explore fabrics in my own home. Off to the fabric store, you?
